Soft, quiet, and far more interested in people than in other dogs.

Juniper is the lightest coated dog here and the smallest of the three mothers. She is also the gentlest, which shows up in her puppies more reliably than her colour does.

She was slow to grow up. At a year old she was still nervous of the vacuum and would leave the room when the doorbell went, and it took another year of ordinary exposure before that stopped. We tell people this because it is the honest version of what a soft puppy can be like, and because it is the reason we do not sell a nervous puppy to a household that wants a confident dog.

Her litters are small, usually five or six, and they wean late.

Why this dog is bred from

Every dog here has been seen by our veterinarian, and we will tell you what was found on any of them if you ask. There are no registry papers, no hip, elbow, eye or cardiac scoring and no genetic panel behind any of them, and we will not imply otherwise. A claim we cannot back is worth less to you than no claim at all.

What decides it is temperament. A dog that is anxious, sharp or unhappy around people is not bred from here, whatever else is true about her, because a litter learns how to be a dog from its mother long before it learns anything from us.
